Located in the state of Maharashtra, Sevagram is a town meaning a town for/ of service. It used to be the place of residence and ashram of Mahatma Gandhi. It was during the Padayatra(foot march), Gandhi Ji established his residence in the village Segaon which later was renamed Sevagram.
It is believed that many crucial decisions in relation to Indian independence are taken in Sevagram. Many institutions used this place to arrange nation-building activities devised by Mahatma Gandhi for our country’s betterment. Sevagram is well connected with bus and rail facilities. It is also home to the first Indian rural medical college, Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences.
