About Place
Rajasthan has always been famous for its rich history and architecture. Ranakpur Jain temple is at the top amongst all. It is one of the largest and important temples from Jain culture that honours Adinath, the first Tirthankar of the present half-cycle according to Jain cosmology.
The Jain temple is popular for its intricate carvings and unique architecture. The domes and ceilings of the temple are filled with carvings depicting incidents from the past making it a true work of art. Not only this but also the stone slabs showcasing the Sahastrafana (a cobra with thousand hoods) Parshwanath and Sahasrakuta are equally impressive. The most popular feature of this Jain temple is the infinite number of pillars. The incredible designers have arranged these pillars in such a manner that none of them distracts the vision of any pilgrim. If one is visiting Jawai Bandh, a stop by the Jain temple of Ranakpur is a must.
