Kalagarh Dam is also known as Ramganga Dam and is a significant part of the Ramganga Multipurpose project. It was built in 1974. The project is focused on providing irrigation and hydroelectricity to the nearby areas including Jim Corbett National Park. The dam is one of the popular tourist destinations near Jim Corbett National Park.
Kalagarh dam is snuggled on the banks of river Ramganga and is an embankment dam. It accommodates several bird species including migratory birds making it a perfect place for birders, especially during winters. The serene beauty of the dam along with the breathtaking landscapes makes the place an ideal picnic spot.
