Jawai Bandh is a dam located in the Pali district of Rajasthan and is built across the Jawai river. Jawai river is a tributary of the Luni river. The dam was built by Maharaja Umaid Singh of Jodhpur within a span of 11 years and cost Rs. 2.7 crore. It is also the largest dam in western Rajasthan which supplies water to Jodhpur and other nearby cities.
Jawai Dam is a residence of many animals such as leopards, hyenas, white foxes, sloth bears, jungle cats, nilgai, crocodiles, along with many bird species. The weather always remains soothing here making it a perfect tourist attraction. The Rabari tribe of Rajasthan are the inhabitants of the dam. The dam is popular amongst wildlife and nature lovers.
