Ajaygarh used to be the capital of the princely state of Ajaygarh during British rule. It was founded in 1765 by a Bundela Rajput. Ajaygarh fort is one of the top attractions of this place. Located at an altitude of 1,111 m and surrounded by Vindhya hills, it is a great spot for hiking as well. The fort has two entry gates namely Ganga and Yamuna. One has to climb up the 600 stairs to capture a mesmerising view of the Ken river and other scenic beauty of the surroundings.
Kalinjar is a fortress city in Banda, Uttar Pradesh. It was formed by the Chandela kings in the 10th century. Several dynasties such as the Mughals, Solankis of Rewa, Guptas are associated with the fort. It stands alone at the end of the Vindhya range and is a treasure for history lovers. The fort is rich in history, artefacts, monuments, and temples.
